Barbara Elliott
Professor, Department of Family Medicine
University of Minnesota - Duluth

Working to advance the level of adolescent health care in Duluth and Northern Minnesota, Barbara Elliott has provided the necessary leadership for the continued success of the TeenLife Center in Duluth which is based out of multiple sites in Duluth. Dr. Elliot works in a variety of capacities: research, implementation, program development and establishing community partnerships—among others—to work for the continued success of the TeenLife Center.

Professor Elliott’s work impacts many people throughout the Duluth-area community. More than 200 adolescents received services through TeenLife Center’s safety net during the 2005-2006 school year. The TeenLife Center’s successes range from helping young mothers graduate from high school to lead healthy and productive lives, to addressing urgent and primary care needs of homeless youth, to providing culturally appropriate care in the treatment of health problems. Under Dr. Elliott’s guidance the TeenLife Center is completing its second year of collaboration with Lutheran Social Services which expands the ability of the TeenLife Center to continue in its valuable mission.

As the TeenLife Center enters its second decade of service to the Duluth-area community Dr. Elliott’s constant innovation ensures that it will continue to be a dynamic force for providing health resources to young people who are oftentimes neglected by the system.
